Pangea Day - The Power of Film

Pangea Day taps the power of film to strengthen tolerance and compassion while uniting millions of people to build a better future.Pangeadayheader

When she was awarded the 2006 TED Prize, filmmaker Jehane Noujaim expressed a wish: a global acceptance of diversity, mediated through the power of film. (Watch her speech)

On May 10, 2008 -- Pangea Day (www.pangeaday.org) -- sites in New York City, Rio, London, Dharamsala, Cairo, Jerusalem, and Kigali will be videoconferenced live to produce a 4-hour program of powerful films, visionary speakers, and uplifting music.
Movies can't change the world, but the people who watch them can (see also Making Movies that Make Change). With that in mind, Pangea Day's goals are to:
1) Bring together millions of people from all over the world in a unique shared experience
2) Use the power of film to create a better understanding of one another
3) Form a global community striving for a better future.
Following May 10, 2008, Pangea Day organizers will facilitate community-building activities around the world by connecting inspired viewers with numerous organisations which are already doing groundbreaking work.
For the first time in history,
we have the chance to see things differently.
To see it through the eyes of the other.
A worldwide search has begun.
To find films of unique power.
Films that provoke, entertain, inspire
Films made by the world,
for the world.
